"In this exhibition, I also painted some Shinto subjects: dragons are protective deities of water and swim among the clouds; deer and foxes are messengers of the deities of forests and mountains. I paint humans from behind, but they, these deities and messengers, look at us and question us. "
Japanese painter Kazuto Takegami returns to Manifiesto Blanco, after his 2022 solo exhibition, with an exhibition that transforms the gallery into a place of meditation, where the painted canvases vibrate and transmit ancestral energies, amidst aqua-green skies, nostalgic horizons of distant oceans, and creatures hosted by forests and branches. Both in Italy and Japan, we have the experience of admiring leaves and clouds as the seasons change, with different colors, temperatures, and lights. This is not the case everywhere in the world. Ever present above and below us, leaves and clouds are certainly a precious legacy of our lands and skies, messengers bearing stories, joys, and, sometimes, wounds. Takegami, as an observer of Nature, perceives the vibrations of these elements, examples of the ephemeral and transitory that bestow upon our gaze the beauty of their changing forms and colors. The exhibition of Takegami's works accompanies us on this journey of stories and memories, with paintings, drawings, and small sculptures that depict moments of wonder and transitory beauty, fragments of an everyday life that takes center stage in the moment of splendor that manifested itself and that must be preserved in memory, as something precious.
