Surrounded by the Ortles-Cevedale group, in the heart of the Stelvio National Park, Santa Caterina Valfurva is located at an altitude of just under 1,800 metres and offers a large ski area with kilometres of slopes surrounded by nature and picturesque landscapes. The Valtellina trail stands out in the Cross-Country Centre, one of the most renowned trails in the entire Nordic skiing scene, created under the special supervision of former women's national cross-country coach Benito Moriconi and two-time Olympic champion Manuela Di Centa. The track is no stranger to major international events, having hosted the World Cup finals in 2001 and 2008,as well as the Italian Cup for over 35 years. And now the European Cup. The sixth and final stage of the FESA Cross-Country Skiing Cup is scheduled to take place in Santa Caterina Valfurva on the weekend of 21 and 22 March, in a two-day event that promises to be spectacular and will crown the winners of the Cup. It starts on Saturday 21 March with the 10 km individual classic technique race, followed by the 15 km freestyle pursuit race on Sunday. Both races, with distances reduced by one-third for women, will also count towards the 2025/2026 FESA Junior Cup, dedicated to cross-country skiers under the age of 20.Also during the weekend, U18 and U16 athletes will arrive in Santa Caterina Valfurva to take part in the FESA Games, an event that allows many of them to get their first taste of international competition. The young cross-country skiers will take to the slopes on Saturday in individual races, with distances ranging from 5 km for U16 women to 10 km for U18 men, and on Sunday in mixed relays of 4x3.3 km for U16s and 4x5 km for U18s. All the ingredients are in place for a decisive weekend. The event, organised by the Alta Valtellina Ski Club in collaboration with the Lombardy Region, the Municipality of Valfurva, Pro Loco Valfurva, the Alta Valtellina Mountain Community and the Stelvio National Park, promises to be a weekend of pure spectacle that is not to be missed.
