Runners from Italy and around the world meet annually at the beginning of July in the presence of the Pale di San Martino Dolomites for the Primiero Dolomiti Marathon, the beloved running race that in 2025 renews its appointment on Saturday 5 July and thus celebrates its 10th anniversary. The Primiero Dolomiti Marathon is a unicum in the panorama of national running and beyond: with its varied proposal of routes, it allows every enthusiast to find the option that best suits him or her according to each person's physical preparation. The longest and most demanding race, and at the same time the most spectacular and iconic, is the 42 km that from the 19th-century Villa Welsperg in Val Canali stretches into Valle di Primiero, greeting first San Martino di Castrozza and then Valle del Lozen, until it reaches the finish line in Fiera di Primiero. On the same finish line in the centre of Fiera are expected the competitors of all four distances, with the 26 km that starts framed by the Pale in the heart of San Martino and the 16 km that starts instead from Zortea, leading its participants to discover the farms of the Vanoi Valley before reaching the finish line. The “Family Trail”, finally, is the shortest proposal in the Primiero Dolomiti Marathon programme, but no less spectacular: the non-competitive 6.5 km race explores the surroundings of Fiera di Primiero and is loved by young and old alike, given the absence of any particular difference in height, which allows participation by everyone, even without the stress of a stopwatch. Running the event is the US Primiero, which has always been recognised as a model organisation and this year celebrates its 60th anniversary. The organising committee is already hard at work and enthusiasts are proving once again that they appreciate the Trentino event, which has also been made possible thanks to the support and backing of hundreds of volunteers and public and private entities.
