The 2026 UCI Marathon World Championships are set to make history in international mountain biking. On September 12 and 13,the Primiero Valley and San Martino di Castrozza will host a world championship event for the first time, bringing together Elite and Master races on the same weekend and transforming the heart of the Dolomites into the undisputed capital of MTB marathon racing. The world’s top riders in the discipline will compete on an extremely selective course, featuring long alpine climbs, technical descents, and singletrack where power, pacing, and riding precision will be decisive. Saturday, September 12,will feature the Elite Men’s and Women’s races, which will tackle a comprehensive and highly demanding course. Sunday, meanwhile, will feature the Master categories, protagonists of a world-class race of great technical value, alongside the Mythos Primiero Dolomiti Marathon and Classic. What makes this event unique is the backdrop of the Pale di San Martino, along with the villages of the Primiero Valley and a network of trails that ranks among Europe’s premier off-road destinations. This region is perfectly suited for mountain biking and is ready to host an event destined to become a benchmark for the entire international mountain biking community. The Primiero Valley proves to be an ideal testing ground for a World Championship, thanks to the well-established efforts led by Massimo Panighel with Pedali di Marca, in collaboration with the Municipal Administration of Primiero San Martino di Castrozza, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters, and supported by 2004 marathon world champion Massimo Debertolis, a true Primiero native and expert on the area and its network of trails spanning Primiero, Vanoi, and San Martino di Castrozza.
